Obamacare – Who Benefits?

This is the second in a series on Obamacare.  The first, Obamacare – What Is It? can be found here. This installment goes over who is benefiting currently under Obamacare.

You may wonder, isn’t the answer obviously Americans that didn’t have health insurance before Obamacare took effect in 2013? Of course that is true but Obamacare is benefiting many more people and institutions. We’ll start with the obvious answer and run through some of the beneficiaries of Obamacare that aren’t as well known.

Obamacare – What is it?

Americans are about to be dragged through a debate about Obamacare as the new Trump Administration prepares to “repeal and replace” it.  It’s a debate that most Americans are really not ready to have because 6 years after the law passed, many aren’t really sure what Obamacare is.

This hit home for me a few weeks ago as I was speaking with a Republican friend. My friend said he thought Obamacare needed to be replaced with something that required everyone to have insurance. I was shocked and left wondering how in the world my very educated friend did not realize he just said he wanted to replace Obamacare with something that is essentially Obamacare.

Taking Trump Seriously vs Literally

Update: Spicer settles the argument take Trump literally.”I don’t know how else you would take him”

The discussion from MSNBC’s Morning Joe Friday on taking PE Trump seriously versus literally, infuriated me.  Joe’s sidekick Mika bemoaned the fact that political pundits missed how Trump voters were “feeling” and because pundits took Trump literally they missed his impending victory.

Mika may not be wrong but how voters reacted to Donald Trump certainly isn’t new.  What is disappointing is that journalists and pundits like Mika missed it and are feigning ignorance so they can pretend innocence. Continue reading “Taking Trump Seriously vs Literally”

Trump Calls for Nuclear Arms Race

Trump doubled down on his call for a new nuclear arms race minutes ago.

It started with a Tweet:

It was quickly followed by his surrogates clarifying that Trump was calling for modernization of our nuclear arsenal.  Kellyanne and Sean Spicer tried really hard. Then Trump spoke.

Minutes ago, on Morning Joe, Mika Brzezinski spoke with Trump.  He clarified his intent:  “Let It Be An Arms Race”.  “We will outmatch them at every pass and outlast them all.”

Trump Gets Nothing From Boeing

PE Trump met with Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg yesterday.  His goal was to negotiate the costs of the Air Force One program down.  After the meeting Muilengurg pledged to keep the costs under $4 billion.  Sounds like a great win for Trump and the American tax payer right?  The press thinks so but is it really?  No. Continue reading “Trump Gets Nothing From Boeing”

Talk to Us Trump

PE Trump has talked with the us, the American people, ZERO times since election night.  He’s tweeted us, announced a deal with Carrier for 700 jobs, given us a peek into his meeting with the Tech Titans, given reporters off the record sandwiches and chips, given us short blurbs on Boeing and yesterday he gave reporters answers to a few questions on the recent terror attacks.  His Thank You Rallies have been private events (yes large events but still private) with invited guests only.  Attendees who appear not to fit in have regularly been asked to leave his rallies both before and after the election. No Mandate for Trump

I’ve been resisting writing this for days but since there seems to be such mass confusion, here goes:

Trump lost the the popular vote by almost 3 million votes but will be our President because of the Electoral College.   Continue reading “No Mandate for Trump”

Santa Was Turkish?

Blowing many a western mind, Santa Claus was in fact Turkish.  Santa, the son of a rich man,  did help the poor especially children by throwing gifts of gold down the chimney and through windows.
